One of our favourite projects was our luxury, Coastal Hamptons apartment renovation! Located right on the beachfront at Happy Valley, Caloundra, the unit was in need of a complete renovation. The addition of beautiful furniture, specialty lighting and soft furnishings elevated the hard finishes to a level of luxury and refinement. Holiday homes are often the most exciting projects, because the owner is generally a little more relaxed about the process and is more inclined to experiment with bolder colours and stronger design choices. Here we brought the pastel blues, greens, and floaty whites from the ocean and landscape outside into the apartment to further enhance the magical ‘holiday by the sea’ feel. Softness and a floaty, serene feel was introduced via the billowing sheer curtains, custom fabrics and upholstery and white, white, and more white! White walls (Casper White Quarter), white VJ wall Paneling, white cabinetry, and white window treatments. Layers of oatmeal, timber and neutrals complete the foundation, and small pops of gold in the lighting fixtures and styling accessories add an element of glamour and luxury. We coined this project our ‘Coastal Luxe’ project, because we felt it really retained a beachy, coastal feel but it also felt elevated and luxurious. This project was a dream come true for everyone involved!

Living

The living room has been designed to invite the coastal colours found outside, inside. The custom-upholstered lounge, which injects a large dose of powder blue, recedes enough to allow the beachfront views to be the focus. The rest of the room is comprised mainly of whites, timbers and natural tones. The gorgeous mirrors reflect the abundance of natural light and the use of symmetry provides an element of formality.

The kitchen and dining zone is generally the heart of the home, and this holiday home-away-from-home is no exception! The two pack kitchen island was topped with 20mm stone in Caesarstone ‘Snow‘. The built in breakfast nook by the dining table provides extra seating and storage, and has become a casual, inviting extension of the kitchen. The electric fireplace from Dimplex was built into the custom built tower and clad in Easycraft VJ Panels. The VJ Panels add texture and character, without visually crowding the compact space. The flooring from National Tiles was a warm, soft and durable flooring choice with enough variation in the timber to work with all the different timber furniture pieces throughout the room.

Coastal Hamptons Style Sunshine Coast

The girls’ bedroom is a holiday haven of pastels, whites and dreamy clouds. The silvery ‘Cumulus’ wallpaper reflects light and adds whimsy. The custom upholstered bedheads repeat the seafoam colour palette, with the strength of the blue in the feature cushions providing balance.

The main bathroom largely kept to a soft, warm white and neutral backdrop, allowing the showstopping feature vanity to shine. The Paloma aqua tile has a beautiful tonal colour variation which elevates the look. Traditional style plumbing fixtures add character and classic luxury, and the shine of the chrome finish contributes to the overall glistening, dazzling effect. The back-to-wall bath from Reece was selected to give the illusion of a freestanding tub as well as free up space in this tight bathroom.

The master bedroom is the ultimate dreamy, coastal bedroom. Keeping to an all-white base with layers of oatmeal was the key to creating a serene, calming bedroom. The only pop of colour is the soft minty seafoam in the cushions and chunky throw, which ties in with the beautiful bathroom feature tile. The vintage washed linen white coverlet is the perfect fabric to sleep under after a long day at the beach. A corner is filled with a leaner mirror framed by driftwood, a practical way to fill the space and reflect more natural light.

The ensuite vanity wall was the perfect location for another feature tile. The little peek of colour seen from the bedroom is just perfect. Being natural stone too it’s only a relatively small area to be resealed and maintained. As with the main bathroom, the Ming tile has a natural colour variation throughout, creating a wonderful depth and natural feel.
