MOOLOOLABA MARMO

Mooloolaba Marmo

This beautiful waterfront home in Mooloolaba belongs to a busy family of five. The interiors throughout the home have been decorated in a fresh, white and coastal style, however the bathrooms and laundry were tired and dated, with charcoal floor tiles and glossy white wall tiles. Our lovely clients reached out to Coco Interiors as they were preparing to renovate their wet areas. The initial brief was ‘white-on-white-on white’, as they love the clean, coastal feel that a white-on-white bathroom can bring. They also loved the idea of introducing an element of luxury, so that the wife could create a feminine, luxurious space to relax and unwind in after a day of wrangling her brood of boys.

During a design meeting, our client saw and fell in love with some gorgeous, natural honed Dolomite marble, and absolutely needed to include this luxurious material in her home. We decided the best application for the marble would be on each of the rear walls as a feature. This cut down the quantity and subsequently the cost, and also introduced a nice depth to the bathrooms. We had the marble cut into two different sizes and laid them in different patterns (single and double herringbone) to differentiate the separate zones- the client adores the softness and classic charm of the herringbone pattern. We added brass plumbing fixtures for a classic white, grey and gold colour scheme that is enduring and timeless.

Client loves: The large format porcelain tiles are a breeze to clean, the subtle texture has an organic, natural feel and the fresh whiteness of this tile suits the beachy style of this Sunshine Coast waterfront home.

Designers’ favourite: The natural beauty and organic, tactile nature of natural stone is always a personal favourite of ours. This Dolomite marble certainly has wow-factor in an understated way.
